Ali Wood and METAPHOR

Ali Wood and METAPHOR Ali Wood and METAPHOR Ali Wood (second from right) and her band METAPHOR

Female classical rock group METAPHOR gives a new definition to the term ‘girlband’! Their music is a dynamic, exciting combination of virtuosic classical music with a rock sound. Their performance includes such well known classics as ‘Flight of the Bumble Bee’ and ‘Pachelbel’s Canon’, to rock anthems from Queen and The Beatles; their live shows charged with all the energy and sound of a Queen concert!

METAPHOR was created by acclaimed Australian pianist Ali Wood. Originally from Brisbane, Ali was the first Australian pianist to make an American debut at Carnegie Hall. Ali Wood plays Yamaha pianos and Disklavier and MOTIF keyboards. Visit her at www.aliwood.com

METAPHOR is comprised of 4 talented women from all corners of the world. Between them they have performed across the globe – from Carnegie Hall to the Grammy Awards and worked with some of the biggest names in recorded music including Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli and Christina Aguilera.

Other members of METAPHOR are Jennifer Heilig (Yamaha electric and silent violins) from the United States, Tino Guo (Yamaha electric cello SVC200) from China and Meytal Cohen (Yamaha Maple Custom drum kit) from Israel. Each of these women is an accomplished musician with awards and distinctions from some of the world’s most prestigious music academies. All are based in Los Angeles now and have joined forces to introduce their unique fusion of classical rock music to the world.
