Sophie Serafino

Violinist, singer and songwriter Sophie Serafino is a pioneer in the music industry. Violinists are meant to have a certain sound, they’re meant to look a certain way, and they most certainly stick to similar genre. Well, that’s what we’re used to.

Sophie Serafino is a violinist, singer and songwriter, with a unique blend of pop music. Her style evolved after years of experimentation with many musical genres, and has been described as entirely unique. Sophie mixes world music and impressionistic sounds with funk, dance and classically inspired strings.

Her first album in 2002 and follow up, Colliding Worlds 2004, blends sounds from hip-hop, drum and bass, and break beats with classical sounds and solo violin. She has also toured with her band internationally to London, Amsterdam, Paris, Los Angeles, and recently toured as first violinist in the String Angels trio to Italy and Thailand.

Sophie is currently a third year violin performance major at the Sydney Conservatorium of music, studying with Professor Goetz Richter. She is also working on her 5th CD release (her third album).
