About the Yamaha Piano Awards
The Yamaha Piano Awards program is part of Yamaha’s ongoing commitment to support young pianists. They aim to provide opportunities for all Australian students; of all skill levels and backgrounds.
The Yamaha Piano Awards
- The program seeks to help schools with under-developed music programs, and regional schools and communities with a lack of music facilities, by providing new pianos to schools across Australia.
- The school or community-based venue that demonstrates the greatest need to create or expand their music program – or improve the general musical life of the area – will be the recipient of a brand new Yamaha piano.
- Yamaha Music wants to hear about your plan to help your school or community introduce more students to the joys of music.
- Hurry! Applications close 23rd October 2009! Download the application form here.
The Yamaha Recitals Australia Partnership
- Yamaha Music Australia in partnership with Recitals Australia is proud to support the Recitals Australia Yamaha “Lunch Hour Concert Series” which provides students with the chance to perform on a concert platform using world class instruments.
- These lunch hour concerts offer over 80 musicians with an opportunity to perform each season, helping to provide young pianists with performance opportunities on a weekly basis.
- For more information visit the Recitals Australia website.
Yamaha’s ongoing commitment to support young pianists
Yamaha Music Australia has long supported schools and young musicians through a number of initiatives, including:
- The Yamaha Music Connect program in conjunction with the Sydney Conservatorium, and Music Makers in conjunction with the Australian Music Association.
- The national Yamaha Australian Youth Piano Competition (YAYPC) for piano students from 10-18 years, run with the assistance and expertise of Professor Warren Thompson OAM as Artistic Director.
The Yamaha Australian Youth Piano Competition (YAYPC) competition was run for 12 years and was retired in 2007 to allow the creation and launch of the Yamaha Piano Award program.
